My Current Luv's (and yes, I intended to say luv, it's my thing)

Hello Everyone!

So sorry it's been a hot minute since my last post! I have basically been living at work & not had much time to blog lately. :P Lame-o.

Anyways! I wanted to update with a little something for you guys, so I decided to post a couple things that have been my fav go to's here lately. So here goes!

1) If you guys are looking for something to brighten & freshen up your skin, or you just want to give it a break from the harsh chemicals that tend to be in our popular skin care products, I HIGHLY recommend you try the Oil Cleanse!! I actually stumbled across this little method of facial cleansing on Pinterest. (I don't know about you all, but I am a total Pinterest adict! My entire wedding came off of Pinterest basically -lol- I could be on there for hours & not even know what happened.) And, first of all, before I go any further, I just need to lay out that I have the WORST skin of anybody I have ever met. No exaggerating. Skin products just don't work out for me all too often. Either that or they will work WONDERS for maybe a month to 2 months, then BAM! Crater city, back again, over night. It's crazy. I probably could have gotten on some kind of pill or birth control or something to tame it, but I didn't want to be another side effect horror story & I didn't want to gain any more weight (that's another battle in & of itself). So I've just always kind of dealt with it.
I haven't had too much spare money recently, & about a month ago my last skin care routine had fallen through & quit working (shocker). So I was mulling around the idea of trying Proactive again (had used it when it very first came out & a combination of me being a lazy teenager & not using the product correctly, it just did not do the trick for me, so I stopped using it) but until I got the spare money to buy it I had to do something to bide my time. I have also been trying to put in the extra money (when I have it) to buying more natural & mineral makeup. So I figured I would find some sort of natural skin care to make or buy that would be cheaper & kind of give my face a more natural cleanse. Especially since I have been bouncing from product to product since I was about 13. I found this Oil Cleanse & was curious how this girl (who's acne, as far as breakout patterns & the type of acne she had, looked a LOT like mine) thought that cleaning an oily face WITH OIL would work! That is an oily skinned persons first no no. Anything with oil you keep faaaaaar far away! But the more I read it the more I started thinking "huh.........interesting.." -lol- So I went to my mom's health food store, bought the stuff I needed, & tried it out. Now I am a big instant gratification type of person, which can be bad & causes me to have to push myself the extra mile with a lot of things. So when I tried this after the first couple of times my skin felt amazing! But it looked like absolute poop. After using it for about 2 weeks I had already started writing it off in my head & counting down the days to when I could go buy some Proactive. So I just quit paying attention to any results that I might be having. All of a sudden people started commenting to me on my skin tone, & asking what I was doing, & saying that they noticed a difference in my acne. So I kept using it! Now it's been a little over a month & my acne has gone down a LOT! My scaring is starting to lighten, & my skin tone is the best I think that I have ever seen it!
I think, besides all of those pluses, my favorite part about this oil cleanse is how simple it is. Like I stated before, I can get lazy with my skin care routine. With the oil cleanse you only use it once a day, which is at night before you go to bed, AND it doubles has a makeup remover! Even if this stops working for my complexion, I will DEFINITELY keep using it as makeup remover. It's the best I've ever used.
Now I know that I said I bought my stuff at a health food store, but you can get this stuff pretty much anywhere. And another plus: since it has castor oil in it it makes your lashes suuuuper long! WooT!
So here is the link:

And since I have oily skin I just use the mixture that she recommends on there. I just put mine in an old honey container. It doesn't look like much, but it'll last you about 2 weeks. I use about a dime size on my eyes, & about a quarter size on my entire face. Try it out!!

2) The next thing I found, quite honestly, by being a moron. -lol- I was looking for a generic mineral finishing powder because my good one was gone, &, once again, money was a little tight. So I scoured the Wal-Mart makeup aisle, compared several brands, bored my poor husband to death, & then finally decided on one from Neutrogena. The only thing that I failed to read, which is printed plain as day on the front of the container, is that it was mineral powder FOUNDATION! -lol- Definitely didn't even notice that until I went to use it for the first time. :P But this stuff is AWESOME!! I use my normal liquid foundation & then put the mineral foundation over top like a finishing powder, & it gives an amazing finish. It covers up a lot of my acne & scars! About the only thing you see are a couple of my raised acne that I still have, but it covers up just about all of my scars. Highly recommend it! I was going to post pictures, but my lappy (lap top to normal people) was acting up. :P

If you guys try any of this let me know what you think! My next project will be to post my daily makeup routine for you all with pictures! So hopefully that will be up soon. Have a great day kids!

Peeve City

OK, so I don't have a whole lot of time for a post today, but I have a little bit of time to kill so I'll just share a little somethin' somethin'. ;) Hopefully in the near future I'll be able to share some of my usual makeup looks & maybe put some outfits together & feature some trends. But for today, Google images will be my friend!

So we are going to talk about some of my biggest pet peeves: wearing pants/shirts that are waaaaaaaaaaaay too small for you, coupled with your thong hanging out! I work in a pretty high fashion environment, but we have the option to dress down just about as much as we want (with a few limitations), or dress up. So I see both of these extremes gone EXTREMELY wrong every day and, let me tell you, it is skin crawlingly painful!! Here are some examples of what I'm talking about.....

Alright, so things to cover from these photos......

1) I know first hand how depressing, sad, & discouraging it is going clothes shopping & realizing that you need to up your size from what you're used to wearing by one or two sizes. Believe me, weight has always been a huge struggle for me & I have had many a breakdown while clothes shopping for this very reason. But there is one nice thing that happens every single time I run into this....when I put on the size that FITS, and fits WELL, I feel smaller. You will look sooooooo much better in a size that actually fits & compliments your shape, no matter your size, than you do in a smaller size number wise. Once you can get your mind past the physical number that is printed on your pants or top, you will feel so much better in your purchasing decisions & actually feel confident in your new finds! I still have to remind myself of this sometimes. -lol- Plus you are sparing yourself from possibly ending up on Google under one of these embarrassing searches!

2) For the love of GOD please do the pants test before you leave your home to see if your thong is/possibly could hang out!!!! We do NOT want to see this!! It looks cheap, trashy, & gross. The "pants test" (as I call it) is making sure that your top is long enough to cover your butt when you sit down. You can do this by sitting on your bed & being sure one of your tops (if you're layering) is long enough, doing the "Snooki test" & bending over in front of the mirror (if you watch Jersey Shore you know what I'm talking about!), just do anything necessary to prevent this from happening! My best suggestions, especially if you're tall like me, get longer cami's for your layering. I hardly wear anything without a cami underneath. I feel naked without one. My favs are from Wet Seal or Old Navy, sometimes even Target. Step 2 would be to follow pointer #1 & get pants that fit!

3) Do NOT wear leggings out that are too small!! This causes them to be see through, which is gross! Buy either thicker leggings, or buy yoga leggings & wear them as leggings with your outfits. Yoga leggings might be a little bit more expensive than some $8-$10 leggings you can find at Old Navy or Target (which there is nothing wrong with these either! as long as they fit!), but yoga leggings give you a more sculpted shape. They hold you in, give your body a sleeker/slimmer look, and hold in your lower belly if that is a problem area for you.
Another thing to look for to make sure your leggings fit properly: make sure (if you have it) that you can not see your cellulite through them! That is gross! I mean a lot of us girls have that issue, but you do not need to display it while trying to be fashionable! Just make sure that you turn around in the mirror before making your purchase or going outside!

4) And my last tip/plea would be to please, for the love of God, make sure that you do not get the legging wedgie!! Huuuuuuuge peeve of mine!! This is avoidable, even with wearing the almost necessary thong with your leggings (you could also do seamless panties). Just get leggings (again) that fit properly!! Because, let me tell you, this coupled with the cellulite show through in the same legging is NOT pretty! And I see these on the daily! Again, yoga leggings can also take care of this problem. Watch out for this with your sweat pants too! I am all about wearing a cute sweats outfit out & about while running errands (as long as its cute, not your Eeyore pj's!), but keep them out of your ass!!!!

Leggings, cute sweats, skinny jeans, & yoga pants are awesome staple pieces to have for your wardrobe, I highly encourage them! But make sure that they fit first! Check the mirror before leaving your house or the store!

That's all I got for today! Hope you all have a wonderful Monday! (if that's possible)

Revamped, getting organized, setting goals

I had started blogging several months ago under a vintage blog, but I decided to change my goals for this space a little bit. After my wedding in October settled down, the holidays are winding down, & with the new year here & upon us I have decided to set some higher goals for myself this year. One, is getting back into shape. I know that probably 99.9% of America sets that as their one & only resolution, but that is not my one & only, & I take that commitment very seriously. I have been eating healthier & working out 6 days a week, so far so good! My other goals are....
1) To get serious about my photography again
2) To read more
3) Start a fashion/makeup blog
I figure I can kill 2 of those birds with starting blogging back up again. So! I am going to use this space as kind of a fashion/makeup blog, & I will also try & take a lot of my own pictures of the products I will be featuring as some photography practice. I might include some non-fashion/makeup products every now & then, but I this will mostly be for the first two.
So, here is to the new year & new goals! More to come very soon!
